Pictured above is a reproduction of the ‘Mouth of Truth’. Believed for centuries by the citizens of, and visitors to Rome, Italy, to have the power to tell whether those inserting their hands into its mouth are in the habit of telling the truth (or not). Legend has it that the ‘Bocca’ will sever the hand of those that lie.
